For the second last Scramble of Summer 2018 we had torrential downpours on and off between 3.30 and 4..30pm - which would have influenced some of the 'fair weather' golfers. But 26 brave souls ventured out and the weather dried up to provide pleasant golfing conditions.
Almost half of all the pairs out returned Gross scores below par - which represents some really good golf - and the prize winners were among these.
In 2nd place with a good Nett score of 27.4 were Frances Lambe and Tom O'Rourke and the winners were Declan and Brendan Cullen with a really good score of 26.4. Congratulations to all of them.
As next Wednesday is the final Scramble, and based on previous years experience, we expect a larger than usual turnout. So the Resort has agreed extended teetimes - starting at the earlier time of 3.30pm. So we would encourage as many as possible to come for the earlier times and avoid a rush closer to 6.00pm.
The Resort General Manager, John O'Grady, has again kindly agreed to host a Finger Food Reception after the golf at the presentation of prizes - including the prizes from the Presidents Prize competition and some other outstanding prizes from Club competitions.
Brendan Daly is busy managing the preparations for the Brennan Cup Semi Final against DunLaoghaire on Saturday next in DunLaoghaire GC - a 'home' match for them. This evening he said he would welcome any and all support - and spotters - on the day. The first teetime is at 3pm so why not take a trip out towards this location near Enniskerry and support your Club.
Until next week at the slightly earlier time.
