Tulfarris was looking at its splendid best in glorious sunshine and a gentle breeze which served only to take the edge of the wonderfully high temperatures this evening. Great golfing conditions for the more than 40 golfers who turned out for this week's Social Scramble.
Joe Piggott and Declan Byrne would have played themselves into the prizes were it not for the 1 shot reduction in their handicap for a previous 'win'.
Frances Lambe and James Keely claimed second place with a good gross of 34 giving them a nett score of 29.8.
Last week Denis Mahon and Brendan Daly set the Best Gross for the year at 31. With Brendan unavailable tonight Denis brought in super-sub Myles Burke and they came close to the mark with a good 33 Gross. This was then good enough to get them tonight's first place with a Nett score of 28.6.
Well done to all the prize winners.
In his few well chosen words Denis reminded us that the Provincial Towns team will be in action in Wicklow and in Tulfarris on Sunday at 3pm and that all support would be appreciated at both venues. Best of luck lads.
Until same time, same place next Wednesday...
