March Newsletter

Dear Fellow members,

Just a few items to note below:

Captain's Drive in.

Thanks all for your understanding regarding the late cancellation of the Drive in over the past two weekends. With the challenging weather conditions that prevailed, in the interest of both safety and enjoyment of golf the decision was made with members interests at the forefront.  With a busy few weeks in front of us with Interclub competitions commencing, our first Medal on the April 14 weekend and of course Easter we have re-scheduled the Drive-in and scramble followed by lunch to Sunday April 28th.

Gents Matchplay:

Entry sheets for the Gents Singles, Doubles and Mixed matchplay events are up on the club board this weekend. Please note that an entry deadline of March 31  has been set in order to provide for sufficent time to complete the busy few early rounds.  If you are unable get to the club to put your names on the sheet, please ensure you register by email via this HonSec address if needs be.

Gents Appreication Day:

Just to confirm following the Resort newletter a few weeks ago,

"We are looking forward to hosting the Gents Appreciation Day on Sunday March 24th March

For those of you not able to attend, but still looking at play in the morining we will have scheduled a Single V Par on Sat/Sun. however support for the Appreciation  event & clinic by our Touring Professional Simon Thornton would be very welcome. Last year Simon was put to the test on virtually every shot in the book & also provided some invaluable tips on practice, preparation and game management and having competed in last years Europro Tour Irish Master event I'm sure he can provide even more tips on managing some of the more difficult shots around Tulfarris.

Irish Mixed Foursomes:  Sunday March 31st we take on Craddockstown where we have 3 matches at home & 2 away. On the Course:

Work is progressing well on the extension to the Ladies tees on the 5th & 7th holes.  Course Superintenant Daid Brady advised he planned to top dress the fairways in the 1st week of April weather permitting following on from some aeration work on the green this month, so with spring growth hopefully kicking in during April we can look forward to magnificant course conditions throughout summer and beyond weather permitting as usual of course. Last year thanks to Daves work the course handled the extreem weather changes well, so Dave's timely works now will no doubt assist again.

Clubhouse / Locker Room works:

By now you would be aware of the works progressing on the new extension & facility to the golf shop & checkin building beside the putting green.  Attached is a copy of  initial plans for what we can look forward to in the comming months. Resort Management are still finalising precise details of the facility however suffice to say we will be able to enjoy light snack and refreshment in a club room in addition to the full facilites of a locker room.  Click here for Building Plan
