Please see a number of updates below as we get into the busy part of the season
The Blues trophy takes place this coming weekend. With our Provincial Towns team also playing in the Quarter Final on Sunday, the committee has taken the decision to extend the Blues Trophy to three days, Saturday, Sunday and Monday for all members. Course will be set-up appropriately by David and his team to account for this change. Tee off times are permitted to 5.30pm Saturday through Monday.
As in previous years one-off Drop Zones will be created short of the 9th & 18th fairways for players who do not successfully make it across the lakes from the Blue tees. If you are unable to locate your ball after your tee shot on these holes you can proceed to play your third shot from these Drop Zones.
Remember to bring your water and sunscreen!!
Rumble For Crumlin:
For the last number of years we have supported this worthy cause and as a club we've raised over €5,000 in the six years that we've supported this charity. In a change to the published fixture list, the rumble can be played both on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th July.
It is a rumble format (3 person team) and can be any combination of players / handicaps. It is one stableford score to count on the first 6, two stableford scores to count on the second 6 holes and all three stableford scores to count on the final 6 holes.
The winning team goes to play in the National Finals at Greystones GC on Friday 28th September.
It is €10 per person (€30 per team) or alternatively if you cannot make it and would like to make a donation to this worthy cause then you can sponsor a tee box or a green on the day for €20 per tee box or €20 per green. If you would like to do this can you contact myself at email@example.com or the Captain at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know which tee box or green you would like to sponsor. Please leave your donation with a member of the Men's or Ladies’ Committees, there will be starters present in the pro-shop on Sunday morning as normal.
Trusting you can support the day.

(Tickets are available from the Committee starter each Sunday) If you have sold tickets please ensure you return all stubs and payment to the Committee in due course.
We do not have long until the ticket draw at Captain's Dinner so your assistance is requested.
New Course Sign
The Resort and the Golf Club have collaborated to put a new course information board in place beside the putting green and starters hut. This is an initiative that was prioritized by the committee earlier this year and we thank Pat Barrett and the resort for their continued support. The board will provide golfers with course information, maintenance work, conditions of play for the day and also space to note club and resort sponsors. Pictured below is committee member and competition sponsor Pat Curley.
Upcoming Interclub matches
The club have been extremely close to that elusive pennant in recent years and all help with support, ball spotting etc can make that extra bit of difference. We fully expect a large turnout from our opponents so let’s get out behind the boys.
Tulfarris is taking on Wicklow GC in the Quarter Final of the Provincial Towns competition on Sunday 1st July, the team and committee would appreciate as much support as possible, so it would be great if you can come along to support them, particularly in Wicklow GC on Sunday starting at 3pm. 5 matches in Tulfarris and 4 matches in Wicklow.
Tulfarris will take on Mount Wolseley in the Quarter Final of the Brennan Cup the following week on Sunday 8th July at 2.30pm. All matches will be played at home in Tulfarris, again your support is very much appreciated.
Tulfarris kicked off their 2018 Brennan Cup campaign with an impressive away win against the holders , Woodenbridge GC . This was the second time in 3 years that Tulfarris defeated them on their own patch much to the dismay of the home support !
The spirit and determination our lads showed was fantastic and we got off to a fast start in most matches. Woodenbridge being the 2017 champions refused to cave in and fought back to make the finish to this match one of the most gritty , tense and competitive I have witnessed .
At the end of the day with both sides having two points on the board , our pairing of Denis Mahon and Paul Murphy went down the 19th to decide the outcome . It’s not fair to single out one pairing or player on a team when everyone has contributed to a great win but it has to be acknowledged that a thundering drive which crossed the road leaving 90 yards to the green and a wedge to 6 inches (conceded birdie) by Paul Murphy is the sweetest way to conclude a match . Well done everyone on a great team performance !
Our Team : Mick Curran /Tom Browne. Paddy Carty / Myles Burke . Tom O Rourke/ Conor Fallon . John Curley / John Horan. Denis Mahon / Paul Murphy.
Managers : Brendan Daly and Paul Fitzpatrick
Update from team manager Niall Robinson
The Junior Cup was held on the 9th June in Milltown G.C. The draw put us up against recent Provincial Winners and All Ireland finalists, the Grange and Castle G.C.
The team that represented Tulfarris on the day was:
Unlike most of the other teams competing, Tulfarris has an extremely small number of members who can be competitive at this level (typically handicap range from 4-6). Notwithstanding this, the team performed extremely well finishing 9th out of 16 teams and notably finishing ahead of the 2 teams mentioned above. With the combined score of the best 4 cards counting, Tulfarris missed out on qualification by 8 shots.
Hopefully the lads above, together with some of the injured members on the day, can take this a step forward next year and progress to the knock out stages.
A big thank you to the above lads together with Stephen Cullen, Liam O’Loughlin, Mark Walshe and Peter Pedersen (who was there cheering the lads on).
Jimmy Bruen Shield
Update from team manager Mark Reilly
The Tulfarris Jimmy Bruen team took to the fairways of Royal Curragh Golf Club on Saturday 23rd June. The team, managed by Mark Reilly, went up against 18 other teams on the day to try and clinch one of the top 4 positions which would have taken us into a semi-final match on the Sunday. The Tulfarris team on the day was as follows:
Gavin Buckley & Eoin Curley
John McFall & John Hyland
Shemus Dore & Niall Robinson
Conor Fallon & Jay Curley
James McCarron & Kieran Feely
The course was playing firm and fast on the day and was more like a links course than an inland course. This made for some hot scoring with Cill Dara, Royal Curragh and Naas making the most of the excellent conditions to clinch 3 of the top 4 positions. 4th Place was in our sights for a while coming down the stretch but ultimately we were a few shots shy of the 330 target that was ultimately clinched by Dunmurry Springs Golf Club. Team manager, Mark Reilly, really appreciated the efforts of the team on the day and would like to thank the players for turning out and doing the club proud. It was also great to see some of our new members going into battle for Tulfarris and we have some strong new additions to our panel of interclub players. This is a competition we should be thriving in given the potential panel of players we have in the handicap range and hopefully next year we can make that breakthrough to the Sunday semi-final.
All bunkers are now back in play, with the exception of the bunker on the back of the 18th green. It is expected to be completed shortly.
Match Play Deadlines:
Singles Round 3 deadline is 8th July and Round 4 deadline is 29th July. Same dates for the Doubles for Round 3 & Quarter Finals respectively. Please keep these dates in mind given the busy golfing schedule next month.
Rules & Conditions around the club matchplays are noted on https://www.tulfarrisgolfclub.com/match-play/
Please remember to send your results by email to email@example.com and to update the result on the notice board.
