Dear Members,

Captains Charity Day

Captain Pearse Daly has asked me to convey his gratitude to the members for their great support for his Captains Charity Day today. In this regard he is grateful to those members (and in some cases their families and friends) who entered teams, provided sponsorship of tee boxes and otherwise, supported the raffle by donating prizes and buying tickets and so on.
He is also grateful to the Resort Management for making the course available - and of course for having it impeccably turned out for the day. His thanks also go to Norma in the golf shop for her work in advance and also to the starters today.
He tells me that the proceeds will be of the order of €4,500 and that this will go in full to support two very deserving charities - Barrettstown and the Scoliosis Department at Crumlins Childrens Hospital. Ruth Craigie from Barrettstown addressed tonights presentation ceremony in the Hotel Bar and outlined how valuable contributions such as these were to the work they do. The ultimate beneficiaries will be the children that are looked after so well there and in Crumlin.

The prize winners from today's scramble were as follows:

Nearest the Pin        P N Whelan
Longest Drive          John Fox (Olive Whelan's Brother in Law)
3rd        58.3             Pearse Daly, Peter Pedersen, Vincent Cronin, Declan Ryan
2nd       57.8              Ciaran Curley, John Curley, Pat Curley, Mary Curley
1st        57.7                Liam O'Loughlin, J Lavelle, M Lavelle, N Wrvacic

Congratulations to all the winners.

Pearse has been invited to visit Barrettstown and will do so to hand over the cheque when the financial matters are finalised. We hope to have a photo from there for posting on the Club website.

New Website

Which brings me to the news that our Club Website has been updated to present a brand new image - one which complements the Resort Website. Fantastic work has been done over the years by Club member Peter Pedersen in creating and developing the previous version of our site. Peter has been working closely with Joanna Doyle from the Resort Management in the development of the new site and we send our thanks in particular to both of them for the job they have done.

For those of you who have in your systems already you will not have to make any changes as this address will now be routed automatically to the new address - you can of course go directly to this new site.

All of your old favourite features are included in the new Website - although it may take us all a little while to get used to navigating our way through the new site. Rest assured nevertheless that all of the existing information has been transferred across and will continue to be updated by Peter as before.

One new feature can be found in the drop down menu from the "ABOUT US" button. This "NEED A SERVICE?" section is designed to provide members with details of a range of services provided by, or recommended by, members of the club. Click on and you will get the idea.

Peter would welcome your comments and suggestions on the new site as you begin to use it. Thanks again Peter for your great work on behalf of the Club andcongratulations on being among the winners today.
