Newsletter November 24th 2010

Dear Members,

We had over 40 members at the AGM held on Sunday. The following Committee were elected for the forthcoming year.

Captain: Pearse Daly

Vice Captain: Niall Robinson

Hon Secretary: John Horan

Hon. Treasurer: Cuan MacAogain

Committee: Keith Turner, Les Broderick, Ciaran Curley and Noel A Kelly

In addition to these Tom Bryan continues his term as President and John Hyland remains on Committee "ex officio".

Among the motions adopted was a change in the eligibility age for Juniors from 13 years down to 10 years of age.

It was also agreed "that the incoming Committee be authorised to devise and implement a system, including sanctions, if necessary, to deal with the problems created by "No Shows" for tee times". The new Committee will be considering this matter and will revert with their proposed approach in due course.

The Resort's new General Manager, Mark Howell, joined the meeting and outlined his plans for Tulfarris.

For 2011 our annual subscriptions will be unchanged. The social levy of €100 will NOT be charged to existing members but we will get a credit of this amount on our GUI Card to spend in the coming year - compliments of the Resort. The usual arrangements for couples will continue to apply. This is the Resorts way of saying thank you to existing members for their patronage in the past year and was well received by the members present.

With a view to incentivising existing members to encourage their friends and colleagues to join Tulfarris, the Resort will waive the €100 social levy for the new joiners who are nominated by an existing member. In addition the existing member will receive a further credit of €75 on their GUI card for each new member who joins at their instigation.

In addition to the above all the other business appropriate to the AGM was fully attended to and the members then adjourned to a finger food reception kindly hosted by the Resort.

The Winter League continues, except on Sunday 5 December when we have our annual Christmas Scramble. This will be a shotgun start - 9.00 for 9.30 a.m. Be sure to get your name down - and note the earlier comment about "No Shows"! We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at this festive gathering.

Finally, Captain Pearse Daly has the calendar of events for 2011 virtually complete and this will be available soon on the Club's Website and will be circulated later in hard copy. We will keep you up to date with developments as they occur in the months ahead.

John Horan,

Hon Secretary
