Newsletter May 9th 2010

Dear Members,

Good News, Bad News and Great News

First the Good News. Tulfarris won their second round match in the Barton Cup with a good win yesterday over Dublin City Golf Club. Well done to Player Manager Pearse Daly and his partner Liam O'Loughlin, to Niall Robinson and Noel A Kelly, to Kevin Higgins and Ciaran Curley, to Brendan Daly and Mick Curran and also to John Staunton and James McCarron. Good luck to them also in the third round.

Unfortunately, the news is not so good from the South Leinster match against Glenmalure this afternoon where Tulfarris came out a the wrong end of the result. Our thanks nevertheless go to Les Broderick, Mattie Nugent, Ciaran O'Meara, John Devereux, Noel Kelly, Frank Lewis and Pat Mahon. Our expectations as a Club have been raised to a high level by the many successes of this panel in recent years under the dynamic management of John Britton and Noel Kelly. Regrettably you can't win them all but well done lads.

I am mentioning here that Captain John Hyland and Keith Turner were the winners of the Open Competition on 2 May. I do this particularly to record the fact that Keith recorded a hole in one on the second. Well done Keith.

The Captains are in the news again today with Lady Captain Frances Lambe winning the Ladies Committee Prize, pipping Lady President Madeleine Drew Byrne into second place.

Regards from "ASH" bound Spain where we are "stuck" for at least the next few days.

John Horan,

Hon Secretary
