Newsletter March 9th 2009

Dear Members,

Membership Update

We had close to 80 members at the Special General Meeting on Sunday last (8 March) in Tulfarris. I am pleased to report that the approach which the Committee had proposed to the Receiver was unamiously endorsed.

This was followed by a further meeting with the Receiver on Tuesday 10th and by a Committee Meeting later that evening. The following is the latest position in relation to operations at Tulfarris and plans for 2009:

It is still the Receiver's plan to re-open the hotel and catering facilities in early April.
A comprehensive maintenance and improvement programme for the golf course has been approved for implementation.

The Receiver has met with a number of parties interested in the facility.
Invoices will issue in the coming days from the Receiver in respect of annual subscriptions for the year 1 March 2009 - 28 February 2010.

The subscription for an individual will be €1,000 and for a couple €1,500.
Members who paid a 2009 fee just prior to the Receivership will not be required to pay any additional sum this year - evidence of payment will be required.
All subscriptions have to be paid before the end of April - entitlement to play on the Course will be terminated from 1 May for anyone who has
not paid their sub. For the next six Sundays - up to 19 April - payments can be made to the Club Starter between 8.00 a.m. and 10.00 a.m. Payment should be by cheque, bank draft, postal order (no cash) made payable to Tulfarris Golf Club.

The Club has opened a special bank account to receive these subscriptions and we will pass on 1/12th each month to the Receiver on behalf of the members.
A separate payment of €55, again payable to the Golf Club, is now due for GUI levy/golfsure insurance.(Ladies amount is €50 with Golfsure optional).

New members will of course be welcomed on the above basis also and the Receiver intends carrying out a promotional campaign in coming weeks.
If any of your friends, colleagues or spouses wish to join please forward their details to me for presentation to the Club Committee for approval.

"Share" members who wish to pursue their individual cases with the Receiver, in relation to payments made to the Resort owners in the past, are clearly entitled to register their individual claims with the Receiver. He is still of the view that such shares did not relate to any registered company and that even if they did they would rank after ordinary creditors and banks. in any event, for those who wish to pursue thes matters with others on a coordinated basis it was agreed at the Special General Meeting that the club would circulate contact details for Kevin Higgins who agreed to act as a contact point. Kevin can be contacted on 086 8126245 or

Finally, the Captains' Drive-In is scheduled to take place on Sunday next. Members should arrive and sign in at 9.00am for the Drive-In at 9.30am, which will be followed by a scramble competition with a shotgun start at 10.00 a.m.. This will then be followed by a light lunch and presentation of prizes. Members who wish to take part should get their name on the timesheet ahead of the draw which will take place on Saturday.

Yours in Golf,

John Horan,

Hon. Secretary
