Newsletter March 14th 2011

Dear Members,

Yesterday's Captains Drive-In went off well with a great turn-out of Members to see Captain Pearse Daly and Lady Captain Ann Horan splitting the fairway off the first tee.

Their clothing and golf clubs may have looked a bit "dated" but were chosen deliberately to reflect the fact that we are now officially celebrating 21 years of golf at Tulfarris.

Captain Pearse and Lady Captain Ann were delighted to see such a large number of Members present on the day and they look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the Course in the year ahead

The Drive-In was followed by an eighteen hole 4 person Scramble which was won with an excellent score of 60.2. Congratulations to the winning team of Vice Captain Niall Robinson, Sean O'Shea, Charlie Magee and Martin Costello. Congratulations to the winners of the longest drive - Frances Lambe for the Ladies and Vincent Cronin (Rathsallagh) for the Men. Nearest the Pin was won by one of our Junior members, the up and coming Claire Lambe. Well done all round.

The presentation of prizes followed a very enjoyable buffet lunch in the Lime Tree Restaurant overlooking the 18th. Our thanks go to Mark Howell and his team for their help with the day. Norma in the Golf Shop, Derek Bellini and his staff in Adrians Bar and the Hotel Restaurant, along with David Brady and his green keeping team all ensured that the day was a great success.

Back to more mundane, but nevertheless important, business. I have been asked to remind Members of the importance of "signing in" with the Golf Shop before going out to play golf. This applies even if you are only playing a few holes and is important from Health and Safety and Insurance points of view. In this regard also it would be helpful to the Resort if Members did not park in the area between the Hotel and the Third Green adjacent to the Maintenance Sheds. Also in this context I am told that the Resort will be issuing Tulfarris Bag Tags to Members who renew now for 2011.

Finally, just a few reminders - the closing date for entries for the Singles and Doubles Club Matchplays is Sunday 27 March; Annual Subscriptions and Club Levies are due for payment; and now is the time to get your name down - if you have not already done so - for Interclub Competiton Panels.

Regards in Golf and Happy St Patrick's Day.

John Horan,

Hon Secretary
