Newsletter June 7th 2009

Dear Members,

Despite atrocious weather conditions Adrian's classic was a great success yesterday - with a full time sheet for the day. The scramble competition was (appropriately) won by a team which included a brother and two nephews of Adrian.

1st: Nicholas Williams, Mark Williams, Liam Williams, Alan Lynch 57.3
2nd: Albert Crowley, Pat Reidy, D Redmond, N Carroll 57.7
3rd: Mick Curran, Martin Lenehan, Ger Ryder, Marty Doyle 59.2

The Captain and Committee have asked me to thank all those members who participated in the event - by playing or contributing a prize or otherwise for the day.

The day was rounded off by the mounting of a painting of Adrian in what up to yesterday was the Manor Bar but which Tulfarris Resort Management have now renamed as Adrians Bar. We all have fond memories of Adrian and this will surely keep his memory alive for the future.

The Williams family were in attendance throughout the day and they have asked me to pass on their deepest gratitude for all the support they have received from Adrians colleagues and from the members over recent months. They also are very appreciative of the work done for yesterdays successful golf classic.

We have a heavy week coming up of interclub competitions.

Thursday 11 June at 4 pm sees the SOUTH LEINSTER panel continue the defence of their title - this time against Rathdowney with home advantage to Tulfarris.

Saturday 13 June at 3 pm sees the re-emergence of the PIERSE PURCELL team against Moate in The Heath. Yes, you are reading this correctly. You will recall that following our coming through the Regional qualifiers at Craddockstown and then beating Kilcock in the Regional semi-final we were pipped at the post in the final by Millicent. In recent days we have been contacted by the GUI to say that Millicent have been disqualified and that Tulfarris have been installed as Regional winners. This
puts us through to the Leinster quarter final next saturday.

Sunday 14 June 3 pm sees the BRENNAN CUP team play Greystones in the second round with all our players at home in Tulfarris.

Any support which you can give to these teams would be greatly appreciated by everyone involved.

Thats all for now.

John Horan,

Hon. Secretary
