Yesterday Tulfarris had its first outing in the 2012 Interclub competitions. This was our first round in the Garden County Trophy and Tulfarris won the three home matches and lost the three away matches at South County. The competition is run on a "league" basis and our next three matches in this stage of the competition are against Killerig on Saturday 18 February, Blessington Lakes on 25 February and Coollattin on 3 March. All matches are played on a home and away basis each time. The Club with the maximum points at the end of the League stage goes through to the final against whichever Club tops the Eastern side of the draw.
Yesterday's team comprised 6 pairs playing on a foursomes basis. Team Manager, Noel A Kelly was pressed into service alongside John Curley. The other pairs were Brendan Daly and James McCarron, Niall Robinson and Steven Byrne, Liam O'Loughlin and Cuan MacAogain, Myles Burke and Ronnie Carroll, Sheamus McGrath and Eoin Curley. Well done to Noel and his team and best wishes for the upcoming games.
Noel Reilly has posted entry sheets for a range of Interclub competitions on the Notice Board with relevant handicap details and so on. Interested Members are invited to enter their names on the appropriate sheet. Each Team Manager will then be in touch with the players with a view to forming a panel for their competition.
So, golfing year 2012 is up and running and the remaining couple of Winter League rounds will be played in coming weeks. The golfing year proper will get underway formally with the Captains' Drive In on 11 March which will be followed by the usual Scramble. Captains Niall and Dorette look forward to a good turnout of Members on the day.
