Newsletter February 10th 2010

Dear Members,

Following last night's Committee meeting I have been asked to bring a number of matters to the attention of members.

Valentines Scramble:

Our annual Valentines Scramble takes place on Sunday next (14th) and you are requested to get your name down on the draw sheet as soon as possible. Registration is at 9.00 a.m. for a 9.30 tee-off. There will be light refreshments served afterwards at the presentation of prizes. Surplus funds from this event will be given to the relief of distress and the rebuilding of Haiti. We would "love" to see as many of you as possible on the day.

Club Levies:

Members will shortly receive their annual subscription invoices from the Receiver, but separately we would ask members to pay their Club Levies (GUI/Golfsure/etc.) of €55 as soon as possible. This can be done by direct payment to the Starter on a Sunday morning or by sending your crossed cheque (payable to Tulfarris Golf Club) to Niall Robinson, Hon Treasurer, Tulfarris Golf Club, Blessington, Co Wicklow. Please be sure to include your name with the payment.

New Members:

I am pleased to tell you that at last night's meeting the Committee approved applications for 20 new members (including 2 new Junior members). We expect to appoint a Junior Convenor in coming weeks to get things moving for this important group.

Fixtures:

With your Membership renewal invoices you will receive the current Conditions/Rules of Club Competitions and a complete 2010 fixture list. As mentioned previously our Competitions will become "Weekend" Competitions for a trial period from early March, playable on Saturday or Sunday mornings. The only exceptions will be Golfer of the Year (GOY) events which are highlighted on the fixture list. In this regard please note that, although not shown as such, the Presidents Prize on Sunday 27 June is a GOY event.

Interclubs:

The Committee has decided that the Club will participate in the following Inter Club Competitions this year:

Barton Cup(GUI ), Provincial Towns Cup(GUI), Pierce Purcell Shield(GUI)

Brennan Cup(Arklow G.C.), South Leinster Trophy(Carlow G.C), Lisheen Trophy (South County G.C.)

Members interested in participating in any of the above should print their names and contact details on the various competition sheets on the Club Noticeboard. Further details will be communicated in due course by the individual team managers or by the Interclub Coordinators, Noel Reilly and Paul Fitzpatrick.

"Two's" money:

If you are good enough (or lucky!) to get a two on a hole and be entitled to a share of the "two's" money please note that this must be collected within 3 months - otherwise it will be lodged to the Club's account.

Fantastic Score:

There have been some really good scores in the last few rounds of the Winter League but, PN Whelan's score last Sunday was "something else". The following is how it appears on the "How did I do" golf website.

Mr Padraig Whelan - New Exact Hcp 5.9.
