Dear Members,

Captain's Charity

The Captain Niall Robinson tells me that with all the monies now in the final amount going to the two charities is €5,900. His selected charities are The Irish Cancer Society and the Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust and they received €2,950 each. Niall has asked me to pass on his thanks to everyone involved - Tulfarris Resort for the use of the course, sponsors (particularly Eurogeneral and KPMG),those who purchased raffle tickets, individual members who sponsored tee-boxes and all those who played on the day. He tells me that you can have the satisfaction of knowing that through your support these two worthy charities will be able to do even more good work. At our recent meeting the Committee congratulated Niall on the extensive efforts that he made to ensure that the day was the success that it was.

RT Cup

Tulfarris and Rathsallagh play each other annually for the RT Cup. The 2012 event was hosted by Rathsallagh a few weeks ago and sadly we lost three matches to two. The Tulfarris team was Niall Robinson, Noel A Kelly, Tom O Shea, John Horan, Les Broderick, Ronnie Carroll, Stephen Cullen, Pearse Daly, Pat McCartan and Greg Edwards.

As we come to the end of the "Summer" golfing season it is fitting that we should congratulate those who came out on top in some season long competitions. The Singles matchplay champion for 2012 is Lar Doyle who overcame Mark Reilly on the 18th green in the final match of the year. John and Pat Curley won the doubles competition in another closely fought final in which Kieron Ryan and Joe McConville also brought them all the way to the 18th green. The Gold Medal winner for 2012 was Dave Reid who saw off all the other 2012 Medal winners. The overall Golfer of the Year was only won on the last GOY event by John Curley who held off a strong challenge on the last day from John McCarthy. Well done to John Curley for his consistency over the last two years as he was a joint winner of the GOY competition in 2011 also. Congratulations to all these golfers - and for the rest of us there is always next year to look forward to!

We have a formal Liaison structure with Resort owners and managers in which we review the major issues at Tulfarris. These meetings are in addition to the ongoing excellent working relationship we have with General Manager Mark Howell and his team. We will have another Liaison meeting in coming weeks and we will give you a full report on this at the forthcoming AGM.

Elder Lemons Society

The ELS group (for over 55s) had their latest outing in Tulfarris yesterday and the 14 hole competition was won by a visitor, Liam Dowling, with John Britton in 2nd place and Alan Rice in 3rd. ELS organiser, Noel Reilly tells me that he is planning a Christmas Outing in Tulfarris with a suitably festive spirit, to be played on either Thursday 29 or Friday 30 November depending on the preferences of members. If you are interested in taking part (and perhaps also bringing along a friend) give Noel a call on 086 2553530 or an email to
