Newsletter May 13th 2015

Dear Members,

Some mixed updates over the last couple of weeks.

Following some extensive practice sessions, John Britton and his South Leinster Team had a great win against Mount Wolesley on the 2nd May in very difficult weather conditions.

Home Team - Pat Mahon, Brian Sweeney,Rob Nagle.

Away Team - Mick O Toole, Jim Carty, Enda Daly, Colum Smith.

Unfortunately, we  bowed out of the Barton Cup last Sunday.

From Captain Ciaran:

"In very tough golfing conditions at both venues, we lost one match at home and two matches in Courtown. The other matches were all square when called in.

I would like to thank all members of the panel for the time given to practice sessions and representing Tulfarris in the matches against Macreddin and Courtown. I would also like to thank Kieron Ryan for all his help, the supporters and the resort for looking after us very well on both days."

The team that represented Tulfarris were:

Ciaran Curley & James McCarron

John Curley & Phelim Dolan

Stephen Byrne & Myles Burke

Mark Walshe & Mick Curran

John Field & Eoin Curley

The great start to the interclub season for the Ladies Club continues.

From team manager Ann Horan:

“Tulfarris Ladies had their second outing  in the 2015 ILGU Challenge Cup on the 6th May.

The match was played in Coollattin against Wexford GC. This was a re-run of the same event at the same venue and against the same opposition in 2014.

Tulfarris was represented by Lady Captain Mary Curley, Catherine Curley, Ann Horan (Player/Manager), Mags Ryan and Miriam Solan.  They were supported by their caddies John Curley, Maria Carville, John Horan, Kieron Ryan and Catherine Field.

I am happy to report that Tulfarris were again successful winning 3 matches with the other two called in at 3 Up on the 15th in one and all square going down the 19th in the other.

I understand our next outing will be against the winners of the Courtown v Wicklow game at a neutral venue to be fixed by the ILGU.

My congratulations and thanks to all involved with today's win "

Finally, the qualifying round for the Pierce Purcell takes place in Blainroe this Sunday. Our team will hit the fairways from 09:30 -10:02.

All support is welcomed.

Kind Regards

Shemus Dore
