Newsletter March 9th 2014

Dear Members,

A large number of Members turned out this morning to see Lady Captain Maria Carvill and Captain Les Broderick formally "Drive In" for their year in office. They arrived in a soft top car and duly "split" the fairway with two great drives from the ceremonial tee.

This was followed by an 18 hole Scramble competition played in lovely Spring type weather and Tulfarris was looking and playing at its very best. A big hit on the day were the 7 new Ladies tee boxes - well done to David Brady and his team.

The golf was followed by a very pleasant lunch and presentation of prizes in the Lime Tree Restaurant overlooking the 18th green. Many thanks GM Mark Howell, to Norma in the Golf Shop, to Mark the Chef and to Hanora, Darren, Melissa and all the staff who looked after the Members and guests so well today.

The prizewinners on the day were:

Nearest the Pin on the 6th: Pat Quinlan

Ladies Longest Drive on 18th: Lyndsay Maguire Gents Longest Drive on 15th: Will Hamill 3rd with a score of 59: Stephen Cullen, Alan Britton, Kevin O'Connor, Catherine O Mahony 2nd with a score of 58.2: James O'Neill, Dave Reid, Robert Nagle, Lindsay Maguire 1st with a score of 58: Liam O'Loughlin, Mark Walshe, Kevin McDonald, Rosemary Kennedy

Well done to all the prize winners and well done also to Maria and Les and best wishes to them for the coming golfing year. They have got it off to a good start.

On a separate note - a reminder to the Elder Lemons (55+) that the ELS outings continue each Tuesday, checking in at 10 for 10.30 tee off.

Regards,

John Horan
