Dear Member

Jimmy Carroll Cup

Last week Tulfarris played in the Regional Qualifiers for the Jimmy Carroll All Ireland Seniors Cup at Powerscourt Golf Club. The team consisted of five pairs playing fourball betterball and was: Richard Cowley and Basil Phipps, Stephen McEntee and Tom O'Shea, Jim Corley and Nigel Fisher and Tom Bryan and John Horan.

As to the result lets just say that we were not in the top three qualifying teams which were Powerscourt, Delgany and Charlesland. It was not for want of effort on the part of the players on the day or for lack of preparation in advance and on the day by Team Manager Noel Reilly and our thanks go to Noel and all the guys.

This team represents the "core" of the ELS (don't ask) group which Noel arranges each month at Tulfarris for players aged 55+. The next outing for the group will be on Tuesday next 26 June. If you are interested in playing give Noel a call on 086 2553530.

Jimmy Bruen Shield

Also on the interclub front Tulfarris were in the Qualifiers for the Jimmy Bruen Shield at Baltinglass on Saturday last. The format was foursomes and Tulfarris were represented by Noel A Kelly and Stephen Byrne, Mick Curran and James McCarron, Niall Robinson and Jerry Lambe, Stephen Cullen and Eoin Curley and Ronnie Carroll and Sheamus McGrath. The team manager was Greg Edwards.

Despite much practice in advance the team were very unfortunate to "miss the cut" on Saturday evening. The four teams to go through to Sundays semi finals were Dunmurry Springs (320), Newbridge (327), Coollattin (329) and Blessington Lakes (329). Tulfarris, and the hosts Baltinglass, both were just 1 shot back on 330.

I understand that Dunmurry Springs were the outright qualifiers beating Blessington Lakes in the final on Sunday afternoon.

Our thanks go to Greg and all his panel for their efforts on behalf of the Club.
