Dear Members,

Wednesday Social Scramble

This evening we had more than forty golfers playing in the Social Scramble. The weather was perfect for golf and for good scoring.

In second place with a great score of 25.6 were Derek Yeates and Kevin O'Connor. Up to tonight the leading Gross score was 32 and the leading Net score was 25.0. In one 'fell swoop' Owen Welsh and his son-in-law Darren Ash beat both of these with a great Gross 31 and a super Net score of 24.8. They really have set the bar at a very high level for the rest of us to challenge in coming weeks. Well done lads.

We get our first chance to try and beat these scores next Wednesday.

Same time, same place.

Interclub Fundraiser

The following Wednesday (16 July) instead of the Social Scramble we have a Semi Open competition to raise funds to meet the additional costs incurred by the Clubs in the great runs we are having in this year's Interclub competitions. This is an opportunity for you to invite your friends and golfing colleagues to sample our great course.

The entry fee for this 4 person team event is €50 per line with a Member on it or €60 per line of four visitors.

Tee times are from 12 noon to 5 p.m. so get your name down soon and support your Club.

ILGU Challenge Cup

Best of luck to the Ladies Club team in their quarter final match against Wexford in Coollattin on Saturday next.

ILGU Australian Spoons

Best of luck also to Mary Curley and Catherine Hayes who represent Tulfarris next Monday in this competition in Kilkenny.

Rumble for Crumlin

If you want to support a good cause (Crumlin Hospital) why not put your name down for next Sunday's three person 'Rumble for Crumlin'.

The entry fee is only €10 per person and all proceeds go direct to this worthwhile charity.

Junior Competitions

Captain Les Broderick and Club Pro Tom O'Neill have asked me to tell all Junior Members that Coaching sessions to suit all abilities will be held between 4 and 5.30 p.m. on the following Saturdays: 5 and 19 July, 2, 9 and 23 August and 6 and 20 September.

Competitions for Juniors are starting also and it is hoped to have two separate category of prizes depending on entry levels. These will be

18 holes single stableford with play off the Green tees. The computer system willl be set up so that the Junior Members can sign in, put their entry fee of €2 in an envelope and put it in the Score Card box before they go out.

The competitions will be held as follows on Mondays: 30 June 10 a.m.,

7 July 10 a.m., 14 July 2 p.m., 28 July 10 a.m., 5 August (Tuesday) 11 a.m., 11, 18 and 25 August all at 10 a.m.

New Blues Course Record

Finally, we send congratulations to Vice Captain Ciaran Curley on his fantastic score of 72 gross in last Sunday's Blues Trophy competition.

To shoot level par around Tulfarris any day is a great achievement but to do it on the 7,165 yards Blues Course is really special. Well done Ciaran.
