Dear Members,

President's (Tom O'Shea) Prize

More than 70 golfers took part today in the President's Prize competition. The weather conditions were good and with the course in good shape "summer rules" were the order of the day. The prizewinners were:
Front Nine: Shemus Dore 18pts
Back Nine: Keith Turner 20pts
Gross: Noel A Kelly
4th Place: Dave Byrne 35pts
3rd Place: Stephen Byrne 35pts
Runner Up: Paul Fitzpatrick 35pts
Winner of President's Prize and Martin Kernan Perpetual Trophy: Paul Reid 36pts.

Congratulations to all of them and to President Tom O'Shea on a good course set-up and thanks to Tom for an attractive trophy.

Rumble for Crumlin

Last Sunday's Rumble for Crumlin competition prizes were also presented this afternoon.

Congratulations go to the winning team of John Curley, James McCarron and Sheamus McGrath and best wishes to them as they go forward to the Leinster Final to be played at The Grange Golf Club at the end of August. The prize on offer there is entry to the All-Ireland final which will take place in the Algarve in October.

The Captain has asked me to thank all those members who took part and to tell you that the proceeds have been forwarded in full to Our Lady's Hospital, Crumlin.

Interclub Competitions

Last evening Tulfarris took on Carlow in the semi final of the South Leinster competition. The team members were Paul Reid, Les Broderick and John McCarthy at home and Darren Ash and Kevin McDonald away. Unfortunately Carlow came out on top with a 3/2 win which really could have gone either way right up to the very end.

Congratulations to Team Manager Frank Lewis who was ably assisted by John Britton and Tom O'Shea and to all the panel of players in getting so far in the competition.

The next interclub activity for Tulfarris is another semi final - in the Brennan Cup. This time the opposition will be provided by Woodbrook and the likely date is the afternoon of Friday 3 August. All of this match will be played in Woodbrook and Team Manager Joe Gardner would definitely welcome a strong presence from Tulfarris Members on the day.

Wednesday Scramble

On Wednesday evening despite very wet conditions the scramble went ahead and we had some excellent scores. In second place with a score of 28.4 were John and Mary Curley and the winners were James and Ita McCarron with a score of 26.1.

We are back again this Wednesday evening from 5.30 to 6.30 and, regardless of what you might think from the results above, it is not limited to husbands and wives. All members are welcome so just come along and we will do our best to "pair" you up if you are on your own.

John Horan,

Hon Secretary
