Dear Members,

Interclubs Fundraiser

Many thanks to all those Members who supported today's Fundraiser.

More than 100 golfers took part in a most enjoyable competition format

Tulfarris Champagne Scramble.

This year the Clubs' extended the number of Interclub competitions entered and thankfully we have had good runs in several of them. This brings its own financial pressures and the good turn out today will help to defray some of the costs.

Our thanks go also to the Sponsors of today's prizes - Lady Captain Maria Carvill and Ann Horan. Thanks also to Padraig Whelan who provided the bottled water to keep everyone hydrated.

The prizewinners were:

3rd: Kieron Ryan (11), Mags Ryan (32), Dermot Ryan(10) and Brendan Keaney (10) with 101 Points (After Countback).

2nd: John Horan (15), Ann Horan(31), Martin Horan (15) and Mary

Horan(29) with 102 Points.

1st: John Curley (9), Mary Curley (32), Catherine Hayes (34) and Ita McCarron (28) with 106 Points.

Congratulations to all of them.

Cullen Cup

The mixed team got to the Quarter Final on Sunday last but drew the "short straw" with all matches having to be played Away in Woodenbridge. The Home team proved just marginally better in a 3/2 win with the match being decided with the last putt on the last green.

Tulfarris was represented by Frances and Jerry Lambe, Dara and Rosemary Kennedy, Niall Robinson and Louise Lehane, Shemus Dore and Lindsay Maguire and John and Mary Curley. Team Manager Captain Les Broderick thanked all who played for their dedication over the past months in getting the Club this far in the competition.

Rumble for Crumlin

More than €700 was raised in this competition and it has been forwarded in full to The Children's Medical and Research Foundation at Crumlin Hospital.

The winners who now go on to the Leinster Rumble Finals in Mullingar in September were John Hyland, Keith Turner and Tom Browne. Best of luck lads.

'Birdie Kings'

The 'Birdie Kings' competition is hotting up and as of 13 July the current leaders are:

Cat 0 - 11: P Whelan

Cat 12 - 17: P Dempsey

Cat 18 - 28: R Nagle

You can check your own standing, and how much you need to make up, on the Club's website

Presidents (Niall Robinson) Prize

The draw for this competition will take place on Friday evening so make sure to get your name down on the BRS system by 6 o'clock. Registration with tea and coffee will start at 8.30 a.m. on Sunday morning and the Shotgun start will be at 9.30 am.

The golf will be followed immediately by the presentation of prizes and a buffet lunch. The entry fee for this competition payable on the day is €10.

Barton Shield

Tulfarris was proud to "host" this prestigious event on behalf of the GUI last weekend. Elite amateurs from 8 local clubs played the Blue course (apart from the 9th and 16th tees) and it stood up well to the test. There were 8 pairs representing the four qualifiers - Naas, Lisheen Springs, Dunmurry Springs and Royal Curragh and their average score was just over 78 strokes. The outright winners on Sunday was Naas Golf Club.

There were many favourable comments from all those involved on the course so well done to David Brady and his team.

Captains (Les Broderick and Maria Carvill) Dinner While it is still a few weeks away - Saturday 16 August - Les has asked me to tell Members that tickets for the Captains Dinner will be available for purchase from next weekend. He also tells me that there are still a "few" rooms available in the Hotel for that night at the special Captains Day rate of €99 B & B per room.

John Curran RIP

On behalf of the Captains and Committees and Members we send our sympathies to our Member Graham Curran on the death of his father Johnlast weekend.

May he rest in peace.

Wednesday Social Scramble

The usual Summer Scrambles resume at 5.00 p.m. on next Wednesday. Hope to see you then.
