We are delighted to welcome a number of new Members to the Club and we hope that you will become better informed on Club activities through this and future email updates.
At this stage, current members should have received their renewal letters from the resort. Our thanks go to Resort General Manager, Mark Howell, for his work on arranging the package which we hope will prove attractive and help towards maintaining and growing the Membership numbers in the coming year. The Committee would encourage you to promote membership of Tulfarris among your friends and colleagues noting the continuation of the ‘referral incentive scheme’.
Preparations are well underway for the 2015 season. Tulfarris will again participate in a variety of competitions covering virtually all handicap levels. We are currently finalizing this years panel of team managers and you should expect to see notices in the Pro Shop in the coming weeks seeking expressions of interest from the members.
Some managers are already confirmed:
John Britton - South Leinster
Niall Robinson - Provincial Towns
Pat Curley - Brennan Cup
Mark Reilly & Shemus Dore – Pierce Purcell
James McCarron – Junior Cup
Ciaran Curley – Garden County
In fact the Garden County has already commenced. This competition is based on a combined foursomehandicap of 14, with 6 pairs on the team (3 matches at home and 3 matches away). Tulfarris have 5 matches against Macreddin, Kilcoole, Blessington Lakes, Blainroe and Lisheen Springs. I can report a very positive start to the campaign. Despite a course closure in Tulfarris last Saturday and playing all 6 matches away from home in Macreddin, our boys secured a hard fought 3.5 to 2.5 win. Well done lads!
Tulfarris were represented by:
Stephen Cullen & Seamus McGrath :Mick Curran & Greg Edwards
Liam O’Loughlin & Pearce Daly : Stephen Byrne & Myles Burke
Ciaran Curley & Phelim Dolan : John Curley and James McCarron
With only 3 weeks remaining both the singles and doubles competitions are being tightly contested. As it stands, James Keeley and Brian Sweeney/Dave Reid are leading the respective events. Best of luck to all those in contention. If you want to check your own progress you can go to www.tulfarrisgolfclub.com and look under the Competitions heading.
Speaking of Winter League, a long time member John Devereux, aced the par 3 6th hole, our first hole in one since 2013. John scooped the two’s money pot (much to my disappointment!) and is entered into a monthly draw with AIG. Congratulations John.
The Elder Lemons resumed their Tuesday outings on 6th January and will meet each Tuesday morning at 9.30 for first tee at 10.00. The current competition for Easter Hampers runs to Tuesday 31st March. Any Tulfarris member aged over 55 qualifies to play and Visitors are always welcome. No need to pre-book, draw for either 3 balls or 4 balls are done just before 10.00 on the morning.
Pace of Play
Following on from last year’s R&A pace of play survey, the committee would like to encourage members to record their start and finish times on the top right of their scorecard and to actively maintain position on the course directly behind the group in front and not directly in front of the group behind.
The Fixture List is attached to this email in both .xls and .pdf format for ease of reference. It will shortly be available on the website and in the Pro Shop. It will be our intention to stick as closely as possible to this schedule - however circumstances may arise throughout the year which requires some change. Any change will be kept to a minimum and you will be given as much notice as possible.
