Newsletter January 24th 2013

Dear Members,

Interclub Competitions:

Believe it or not the 2013 Interclub Competitions kick off in the next ten days.
Noel Reilly, ably assisted by Paul Fitzpatrick, has again taken on the task of ensuring that we have Managers in place for each of the competitions. Towards this end also he has put notices on the Board in the Golf Shop inviting members to indicate their interest in playing for the Club. There is a range of competitions covering virtually all handicap levels so have a look and get your name down.

Some Team Managers have already been selected - Frank Lewis for the South Leinster, Pat Curley for the Brennan Cup and Greg Edwards for the Jimmy Bruen competition.

I have been asked to manage the Barton Cup panel and the Garden Trophy competition which is a type of "fore runner" for the Barton. It takes place during the months of February and
March among nine clubs in Wicklow and is played on broadly the same format as
the Barton. We kick off with a match against Blessington Lakes at 12 noon on Saturday 2 February, followed by Lisheen Springs at the same time on 16 February and Coolattin at 1 p.m. on 2 March. These are played with three pairs at home and three away each day. We will let you know how we get on.

Annual Handicap Review

The Annual Review of Handicaps has been carried out in accordance the GUI Golfnet requirements. Based on this the Handicap Committee has made some decisions in relation to reductions or increases as appropriate. This affects only a small number of members and these will be advised directly of the changes by Greg Edwards, Handicap Secretary. Your current handicap will show up on the computer at sign-in in any event.

TWOs Money

All TWOs monies up to the end of December have been credited to Members cards by Norma on behalf of the Club. From the beginning of 2013 we are reverting to the old way
of doing things - the brown envelope - which apparently was greatly missed by
those lucky enough to have TWOs. For the 2013 TWOs these will be distributed
with the cash in them in the usual way on Sunday mornings.

Your golfers personal insurance policy is arranged
for all Members and the cost is paid through your levies to the Club. Golfsure
has advised us of some new prizes for those entered in the Hole in One prize
draw in 2013 - from a top prize of a new Volkswagen Golf Car to monthly cash
prizes of €1,000. All that's required is to get a Hole in One! As Members we do
however have the knowledge that we have the Insurance cover for other
unfortunate eventualities also.

Weekend Competitions
Apart from GOY events which are one day only, Members can play in the "weekend" competitions on either Saturday or Sunday throughout the year. Just a reminder that it is only
possible to enter once - either Saturday or Sunday - and you should sign in at
the computer before commencing your round.

Dates for your Diary

The full schedule of events for 2013 will be available for Members shortly. You can
pick up your copy at the Golf Shop or check out the Club website.
he Valentine Scramble will take place on Sunday 10 February so get your name down
in the usual ways not later than Friday 8 February.

A bit further on but you may want to get it into your Diary - Captain Noel A Kelly and Lady Captain Ita McCarron will have their Drive-In on Sunday 10 March - again followed by a
