Newsletter February 10th 2016

Dear Members,

Below are some updates with the new season nearly upon us.

Gent's Fixtures:

The 2016 fixtures have been finalised and are attached to this mail. They are also available on the club website

Valentine's Scramble:

The first social golf event of the year takes place this Sunday. Due the recent bad weather we are reducing this to a 14 hole scramble. Tea/Coffee and Registration take place at 9 am in Adrian's Bar with tee-off at 10 am sharp. Hot Lunch will follow the golf.

We appreciate conditions are not ideal currently but it is always a fun day so hopefully we see many of you down on Sunday. The timesheet is open currently on the BRS system and will close at Noon on Saturday to allow the draw to be completed. If anything changes before the event and you are unable to play, please let me know so we can make prompt changes to the teams.

Dress Code:

There have been some recent enquiries as to the dress code of members and visitors on the course.

As mentioned on the club website:

Normal GUI/ILGU dress code applies. The following are therefore not permitted: denim jeans, tee-shirts (collarless and/or sleeveless) shorts (tailored shorts may be worn), football/rugby tops, tracksuits.

Interclub Preparations:

Our Captain Kieron Ryan and Lady Captain Lindsay Dore asked both James McCarron and Niall Robinson to coordinate identification of our 2016 team managers shortly after last year's AGM. We are most grateful for their support and are pleased to announce a very strong panel of managers:

Liam O'Loughlin: Garden County and Barton Cup

Stephen Cullen: Junior Cup

Brendan Daly: Brennan Cup

John Britton: Pierce Purcell

Noel Kelly: South Leinster

Kevin McDonald: All Ireland Fourball

Ann Horan: Challenge Cup

Denise Sexton: Minor Cup

Lindsay Dore: Intermediate Cup

Kieron Ryan and Maria Carvill: Irish Mixed Foursomes and Cullen Cup

Mick Curran: Jimmy Bruen Shield

Shemus Dore/Mark Reilly: Central Towns

John Field: Provincial Towns

Both committees are grateful to all managers and panel members who make themselves available to represent the club. We hope it is a successful year but most importantly an enjoyable experience.

Winter League:

After a weather affected league campaign we are down to the business end of the singles and doubles events. Only 2 weekends remain and the updated tables are available on:

Upcoming Date for the Diary:

Captain's Drive - In: Sunday 13th March 2016

Kind Regards

Shemus Dore,   Hon Secretary
