Dear Members,

Wednesday Scramble

We had a good turnout of Members for yesterday evening's Social Scramble.

In 2nd place with a score of 29.2 were Mary Curley and Catherine Hayes and the winners on the night with a score of 29.1 (including an additional 0.5 for a previous second place) were Derek Yeates and Kevin O'Connor. Congratulations to all of them.

Only three more Wednesdays to go to catch the best Net Score of 24.4 and the best Gross of 30.

Captain's (Les Broderick) Prize

If you have not got your name down yet for the Captains Prize competition this Sunday please do so before "close of business" tomorrow. The Captain and Competition Secretary will then carry out the draw for times which will be posted on the BRS system by lunch time on Saturday.

The entry fee for the competition is €20 payable on Sunday morning. In the second round Members will play in "reverse order" in accordance with their Round 1 scores with the leaders going out last. If by any chance you are unable to play in the second round on Saturday 16th August please advise the "Starter" this Sunday so that the "draw" is not disrupted for those playing in the second round. Similarly if you are unable to play in Round 1 and wish to play in Round 2 please let us know in advance so that your name can be included for Day 2.

It should be noted that to be eligible to win 1st Prize (only) there are requirements such as having played in 3 eighteen hole competitions in 2014, and as passed by members at the AGM in 2011 - " A person must have been an Ordinary Member of the Club for at least a period of one year in the previous three years before being eligible to win the Captains or Presidents Prizes or the overall Golfer of the Year Award".

The Captain has asked me to mention that he has a new Category novelty prize for the "Best Worst Dressed Golfer". This will be judged on the most colourful or outrageous golf outfit worn on Day 2.

Good luck to all involved.

Lady Captain's (Maria Carvill) Prize

Good luck also to all the ladies taking part in Day 2 of the Lady Captains Prize competition on this Sunday afternoon.

Captains' Dinner Tickets

Tickets for the 16 August Captains Dinner are available for sale from Norma in the Golf Shop or from the Starter this Sunday morning - price €35 each.
