Dear Members,

Wednesday Scramble

In this evening's scramble no less than six pairs broke the 30 mark. There was a close contest for the winning positions with the Captain Niall Robinson and Maria Carvill in second place with a score of 27.8. It took a careful countback to separate them and the overall winners on the same score - Resort General Manager Mark Howell and Dave Reid. Their eagle 3 on the 9th just tipped the balance in their favour. Congratulations to all of them on really good scoring.

Only three more Wednesday Scrambles before the "summer" is over. Tee times 5 to 6 p.m. each Wednesday in August.

Captains Prize Competition

Niall Robinson's Prize Competition kicks off with the draw for Day 1 tee times taking place on this Friday evening at 6.00 p.m. So if you haven't done so already get your name down on the drawsheet as soon as possible. You will be able to check your exact tee time on the BRS booking system from noon on Saturday.

It was decided at the last AGM that a person must have been an ordinary Member of the Club for at least a period of one year in the previous three years before being eligible to win the Captains or Presidents Prizes or the overall Golfer of the Year Award. As in previous years the eligibility to win the Captains Prize will also require that a Member will have to have already played in three 18 holes individual competitions in Tulfarris in 2012, and finally Junior Members cannot win the Captains Prize. In addition to the normal range of other prizes there will however be a separate Junior Category Prize.

Entry Fee for the competition (again as agreed at the AGM is in addition to the annual competition levies) has been fixed at €10 - down from last year's €20 in recognitition of the difficult economic circumstances which we are experiencing. This covers your entry for both days - Sunday 12th and Saturday 18th. As usual you can look forward to your burger on the 10th on the final day! Starting times for the final day will be based on the scores achieved on Day 1 with the leaders going out at the later times.

Captains Dinner

Niall Robinson and Dorette Lotter are inviting members to join them for the Captains Dinner which will take place on the evening of Saturday 18 August. Tickets will be available for purchase on this coming Sunday at a cost of €35 each.

Finally good luck to Lady Captain Dorette and to all the lady members for a successful final day in the Lady Captains Prize Competition on this Sunday and to Captain Niall and the gents for Day 1 on Sunday and Day 2 the following Saturday.
