Newsletter April 4th 2012

April 4th, 2012

Dear Members,

The Club's first Open Competitions for 2012 are scheduled for Sunday 8th and Monday 9th April.

This is a good opportunity for you to invite your golfing friends or to encourage them to come along even if you are not available to join them. The competition format is Fourball Stableford and each pair can be made up of any combination - males, females, or one of each. Entry fee for Members is €10 and is only €20 for non members.

If you wish to play please contact the Golf Shop on 045 867609 or sign up directly via the BRS on-line system.

A member lost their wallet on the Course in the recent past. If anybody should spot it please bring it to the Golf Shop. The anxious owner would greatly appreciate this as it contains some items with a "sentimental" value to him.

If you have been in Tulfarris recently you will have seen extensive work underway on the practice area. In recent weeks this work has included drainage of the area in preparation for the new Golf Academy which will operated by PGA Professional Thomas O'Neill. Tomorrow morning Thomas and I are meeting Resort General Manager Mark Howell and Course Superintendent, David Brady together with the selected builder of the six driving bays (including one for instruction) and the equipment provider on site. Work should commence on these bays almost immediately and this whole new facility should be open for play not long after. This will be a valuable addition to the overall golfing facilities at Tulfarris.

I have been asked to remind you that your Resort Membership and Club Levies are due for payment. Your attention to these matters would be appreciated.

One of our Junior Members Ciaran Lambe and two pals from his school are raising funds for Chernobyl and Crumlin Childrens Hospital by climbing Kilimanjaro in late August. This will be a world record attempt for "numbers on the summit". They are holding a fundraising Golf Classic in Tulfarris on Friday 11 May. Ciaran and his parents, Jerry and Frances, would appreciate if Members could support the lads efforts by entering a team or by sponsoring a green/teebox or by a donation. Team entry cost will be €200 including a meal. If you are interested in being involved please text Jerry on 087 2668784.

On the Interclub front Tulfarris makes it first outing in the 2012 Provincial Towns Cup Competition on this coming Saturday 7 April. This is played on a "home and away" basis with four tee times at Rathsallagh from 8.30 a.m. and five at Tulfarris from 9.00 a.m. Team Manager, Ciaran Curley and his panel would appreciate any support you can give them on the day. Good luck guys.
