Interclub news:

It has been a hectic 10 days on the team front with mixed success. What was common to all was the extensive preparation and 100% effort by all those representing the club.

South Leinster Trophy:

Tulfarris Vs Wicklow. The Team was as follows: Away we had Mick O’Toole, Arran Kehoe and Brendan Bartley. And at Home we had Alan Rice, Gordon Cronin, George Cheung and Rob Nagle. Although we unfortunately lost the battle on the day, the team put up a superb effort with the decisive match going to the 18th green. If that match had gone our way we had one match finished on the 14th in our favour and we still had one match in Wicklow 2 up on the 17th and our last match in Tulfarris looked like going 2 up as the Wicklow ball was out of bounds.  Alas it was not to be and we were out of the competition on the first round.

All-Ireland Fourball:

Tulfarris took on Craddockstown in the 2nd round in perfect golfing conditions. Ian Murphy and Derek Yeates got Tulfarris off to the perfect start with a superb seven and six win in Craddockstown, but Craddockstown fought back and won the next 2 matches on home soil. However Tulfarris hit back with Gordan Cronin and Kevin O’Connor securing a solid three and two win. This left the match all square at two all with the final match in Tulfarris as the decider, and after a Ding Dong Battle right up to the 18th the Tulfarris lads unfortunately lost by a solitary putt. Definitely a disappointing way to lose a match. Congratulations to everyone on the panel for their great effort, hard work and commitment. And hopefully we can have another go next year.

Central Towns:

Our first round match was an away draw against Palmerstown Stud who coincidentally were our opponents last year. 3 matches away and 2 at home. In what was a very sporting and high quality affair, Tulfarris came out on top with a great 3.5 to 1.5 victory. The support on the day from the club, panel and general membership was much appreciated. The team on the day were Dan Lawlor, Chris Shelley, Enda Daly, John Devereux & Tom Browne. Well done lads on a fine performance. Newbridge away in Rd 2.

Barton Cup

Unfortunately we fell short against a very good Baltinglass side. Just a word to say thank you to all the panel for their efforts in the Barton and the Garden County. We had some great results and some not so good but the team spirit was never dampened. It was most enjoyable if nerve racking experience to manage a team who never admitted defeat and gave 100 % every time maybe next year will be our year .

Provincial Towns

This competition consists of 9 singles matches and in Rd 1 we came up against our friends in Blessington Lakes in what proved to be as always a great battle in every match. It was never so apt to say that home advantage was the difference. We won all 5 matches at home while losing 4 away to progress to the next round. The team on the day were Mark Reilly, Jay Curley, Mark Walshe, Eoin Roddy, Jerry Lambe, Niall Robinson, Myles Burke, Pearce Daly & Paddy Carthy. Well done lads.

Next up this weekend are the Irish Mixed Foursomes Round 2 on Saturday afternoon against Edmonstown – home & away and Ladies Minor Cup Round 2 on Sunday afternoon against Rosslare – home & away.

Kind Regards

Shemus Dore
