Following this week's Committee Meeting I have been asked to bring some matters to your attention.
With the introduction of the new method of payment for weekly Competitions including Two's it has been decided that those good golfers who have a 2 in their round will continue to receive their share of the weekly "pot". This will be done in the normal way and will be available for collection from the Starter each week - with one difference. Rather than making up the amounts in notes and coins payment will be by cheque.
If Members have any matters related to the Course they should feed these through to Vice Captain Noel A Kelly for raising with the Committee and with the Course Superintendent, David Brady. Noel can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org
Those Members who have not as yet paid their Annual Subscription to the Resort and Levies to the Golf Club are reminded that these are due for payment no later than Monday 30 April. At that point we will be making our returns and unfortunately if you are not on the lists your membership will cease at that point.
The draw for the Singles and Doubles Club Matchplays have been on the website for some little time. Members are reminded that, as decided at the AGM, the deadline dates for playing matches will be strictly adhered to for 2012. In this regard those of you involved in the "Preliminary" round of the Singles should note that the latest date for your match is 22 April. The first round matches have to be completed by20 May (Singles) and30 April (Doubles). The second round of the Doubles has a latest date of 30 May. Full details of the draw can be seen at http://tulfarrisgolfclub.com/matchplay.php Thepassword is tulfarris.
It has been decided that Prizes for weekly competitions will be presented about once each month and it is hoped that we can have a decent turnout of Members on these occasions. You may want to note the dates in your diaries and this will be important especially if you are among the prizewinners: Wednesday 6 June (after the first of the Wednesday Social Scrambles), Wednesday 27 June (after the Scramble), Sunday 22 July (after the President's Prize which has a shotgun start), Saturday 18 August (at the Captains Dinner), Saturday 22 September (at the Captains Charity Day) and Sunday 4 November (at the End of Year Scramble).
GUI National Golf Academy
The GUI has announced details of a new competition aimed at Club Golfers - the Kelloggs Nutri-Grain Skills Challenge. This is aimed at finding Ireland's most skilled golfers - I tried telling them that we were all in Tulfarris but apparently we will have to prove ourselves! Anyone over the age of 18 with an official GUI or ILGU handicap can enter at www.learntogolf.ie at which address you will also find full details of what exactly is involved. Good luck.
Tulfarris Golf Academy
Closer to home Tulfarris' own Golf Academy took a giant leap forward this week with the commencement of work on the building of the driving bays. General Manager, Mark Howell has "pressed all the buttons" and believes that it should be up and running with PGA Professional Thomas O'Neill on board from the beginning of May.
Hole in One
You will know that your Golfsure Insurance cover provided payment of up to €250 for your "celbratory drinks" bill following a hole in one. We have now been advised that this element will be replaced with an entry into a Super Draw with a chance to win a new car, to the value of €20,000 and thousands of euros worth of other prizes. This apparently arises from the recent changes to prize limits for amateurs announced by the R&A. Good luck again.
Irish Mail All Ireland Club Fourball Competition
Well done to Steven Byrne and Paul Reid who recently won their second round match against Killeen. Their next round match will be at home in Tulfarris on the afternoon of Monday 7 May against Tara Glen from Wexford. Best of luck lads.
The Barton Cup competition gets underway on Sunday afternoon (22 April) on a home and away basis versus our neighbours Blessington Lakes. Our best wishes go to Team Manager, Noel A Kelly and the panel - Stephen Byrne, Ronnie Carroll, Stephen Cullen, Ciaran Curley, Eoin Curley, John Curley, Brendan Daly, Pearse Daly, Phelim Dolan, Paul Fitzpatrick, John Hyland, James McCarron, Sheamus McGrath, Liam O'Loughlin, Niall Robinson and John Staunton. Any and all support in Tulfarris or at Blessington Lakes from 2.30 p.m. onwards on Sunday would be appreciated.
