Newletters June 7th 2012

Dear Members,

We had a good turn out of golfers for the first of our Summer Wednesday Scrambles. The golf was played in near perfect conditions and the scoring was equally "hot".

In 2nd place after a countback were James McCarron and Myles Burke with a score of 26.8. The overall winners on the night were Mary and John Curley with a score of 26.4. Well done to all.

The prizes were presented in the Hotel Bar afterwards and Captain Niall Robinson and Competition Secretary Les Broderick presented a number of outstanding prizes from past weekly competitions. This new initiative was well received by the large numbers who stayed back for the presentation and the chat.

We have a Semi Open on next Wednesday 13 June and the Scrambles will resume on the following Wednesday 20 June.

On a separate note we send our congratulations once again to Stephen Byrne and Paul Reid, the Tulfarris representatives in the Irish Daily Mail All Ireland Foursomes Competition. Having already won out over Bodenstown, Killeen and Tara Glen in the first three rounds the lads had a good win over Malahide to get them through to the final 16 in the competition. Their win over a young Malahide pairing was particularly significant in that the Malahide players hadn't been beaten in any foursomes match for more than a year.

Stephen and Paul now have a tough match away to Stackstown and success there would see them into the final 8 Clubs which will take part in the All Ireland series which will be played at GUI Headquarters - Carton House. Well done lads and best of luck in the next round.

Regards,

John Horan,

Hon Secretary
